As the holidays approach, the neighborhoods of Lafayette and Winona are coming together to support our neighbors in need. This season, we’ll be collecting donations for the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia, which is facing an extreme need for supplies as families throughout our region struggle with food insecurity, government assistance delays, and rising costs.
Now more than ever, our community spirit matters. Let’s band together as a neighborhood and show what it means to give with love from Lafayette-Winona.
🥫 What’s Needed Most
The Food Bank is especially in need of shelf-stable essentials and nutritious staples that help families stretch their meals through the holidays.
Please consider donating:
- Grains (rice, pasta, bulk oatmeal)
- Canned goods
- Cooking staples (oils, flour, sugar, baking powder & soda)
- Shelf-stable milk
- Boxed meals
- Snacks
- Spices
💵 Monetary donations are also welcome and can be made directly to the Food Bank at foodbankonline.org, or through the Civic League. Every dollar helps provide multiple meals to local families.
📦 How to Donate
Drop off your items in the Donation Box on the front porch of
1531 Ashland Avenue (The Pink House on Ashland)
through November and December,
or bring them to the November 18th Civic League Meeting.
Your generosity, no matter how small, helps our entire community shine a little brighter this season.
💬 From the Civic League
“Tis the season for being thankful and helping others in need. Let’s make sure no one in our community goes hungry this winter.”
Together, we can show that Lafayette-Winona doesn’t just talk about being a great neighborhood — we live it every day.
